The Death Crawl…..Potential April 13, 2010

In language arts class we watched a video off of The Reading Workshop called the Death Crawl which is off of the movie Facing The Giants.

I think my potential would be between a 50 and 75, but new stuff just piles up on you/me ever year when you go to one grade to the next.

When we have the Ohio Achievement test I think my potential will be a little bit higher because the teachers try to do their best to teach us and make sure we understand.

On the video when Brock had to do the death crawl and the coach told him to not give up, well that made me think hey, don’t give up so now when I take the OAT test I’m going to be ready. If I did give up I know for sure that I wouldn’t pass. But if I did my best and not give up I know I will pass.

After watching the video on The Reading Workshop it made me think of a person. Her name is Shaylee.

One day I saw Shaylee help a little girl. She was trying to get her coat and book bag off so she jumped in and helped her. So now sometimes the kindergarten kids ask for her help.

In Social Studies class we are doing some research about a person we would like to write about. Then in Language arts we are going to post it on our blog.

I picked Hammurabi. Hammurabi is the King of Babylon. He belongs to Ancient Mesopotamia. He is the sixth in his family to rule the area of Babylonia. Hammurabi reigned over the Babylonia Empire from 1792 BC until his death in 1750 BC. He extended his empire from the Persian Gulf through the Tigris and Euphrates River and westward to the Mediterranean Sea. Which now Babylonia was located in what is now southern Iraq.

Hammurabi’s code of laws was an impact to his civilization. Money and Business was extremely important to Hammurabi.

These are some websites you can visit to look for more information about Hammurabi:

I’m still reading “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” and I read this interesting part that I thought was interesting or that I just liked.

It’s after when Cassandra, Max-Ernest and Yo-Yoji found homunculus which is a two-foot tall, five hundred year old man-eater which now they lost. They looked in the museum’s kitchen which was a mess that the homunculus left in disgust and then they looked in the reunion party up stairs which so far he is nowhere to be seen. But they did see this man or something that looked like him. But I think that wasn’t him. So then this one person/kid told Max-Ernest and Cass to stop looking for homunculus.

Have you ever read a good book?  Well I am right now and the title is ” If You’re Reading This, It’s To Late.”  I have not read that much of the book but right now it’s about this girl named Cassandra (but people call her Cass) and students at her school.  Well at her school they have this table called: the nuts table.  They call it that because some kids have allergies to nuts. Well this kid named Max-Ernest thought that they should call it the no nuts table since they allergies to nuts and I think that is kind of weird.

Well anyways Cass made this puppet called sock monster that was made out of socks and scraps.  She made it because she had a dream about a green and purple troll like thing.  But they was not the same.  So she thought she should have one too.

So my suggestion I think you should try the book because it seems like a great book!

Have you ever helped out another friend?  Well you should!  Have you ever got picked on?  I have maybe a few times when I was little and I know what it feels like.  And can you believe that I have never been in a sport?  But I have watched them on TV and I have went to games so I should know what sportsmanship is.  When I watch the games or when I go I think the sportsmanship is great but in the classroom some people just get picked on.  And I know it does not feel good.  And it makes you feel like a sore loser when your not.  When you see some one picking on somebody go up and help the person out.

Well when I saw a person get there feelings or picked on I just stood up for them.  And then the bully who was picking on the other person just walked away.  So you just do the same thing thats all that I am trying to say.

Have you ever saw/found a stray dog? Did you ever have a thought and thought,”hey he can be mean but I am staying right here” Coyote is the main character in the book Listen. He is a nice, loving dog to people he don’t know. But in the beginning I thought he would be mean but he wasn’t.

In the beginning of the book Coyote is a homeless dog. When he is in the woods without a home I knew he was homeless. And a   girl named Charley finds Coyote in the woods. She sees that he was homeless dog just by seeing if he had a collar.

Coyote is a polite dog. When Charley’s friends Bethanne, her brother and their mom comes over Coyote just wants to be petted and wants to play. Even when they bring their dog over he wants to run around with Bethanne and her brothers dog. But I forgot her name.

Comparing Characters October 29, 2009

We are doing a thing in language arts about characters. And I decided to compare my character in Diary Of A Wimpy Kid The Last Straw, to my friend Kate. By the way my character is Greg Heffley. Greg and Kate are alike because they both talk a lot. Kate she talks so much that she might get on your nerves. And Greg he talks a lot in the book.

This is how Greg is different from Kate. Greg can get his ways some times. But not all the time. In the book he can be a little mean to his little brother. He even fights with his brother Rodrick. He can not play sports that good. He’s probably better playing video games.

This is how Kate is different from Greg. Kate loves to read. She loves to talk. She can talk really loud. She gets mad easily. I have never seen her in a fight so that means she probably never fights.
